Test Overview

The AGA treatment drug minoxidil has been proven to promote hair growth, but it may not be effective for some people. This is because minoxidil needs to be activated by an enzyme called sulfotransferase. This test checks the activity of sulfotransferase, which is necessary for minoxidil activation.

Testing method

The test can be performed by simply plucking 10 hair roots and sending them in. The activity of sulfotransferase is confirmed using a photochemical method. If strong light is emitted, it indicates the presence of sulfotransferase.

How to collect hair roots

① Wash your hands and put on vinyl gloves.
Please do this in a clean environment.
② Collect the hair roots needed for the test from the back of the head.
Select one hair root, grab the root and pull it out strongly from the root.
Use tweezers to collect the root if necessary.
③ Use the attached magnifying glass to check if the hair root is in the growth phase.
Select a hair root with a thick part.

④ Attach to the test paper
Without removing all of the release paper from the double-sided tape of the test paper, fold it in at the front
Place the hair root part on top and place the hair on the test paper in the gray part and attach it to the double-sided tape
Place the peeled release paper over the attached hair
Cut off the hair part that sticks out from the tape
⑤ Fold the test paper in thirds with the hair root part on the inside
⑥ Write your name, date of birth, and test date on the test paper
⑦ Place the test paper in the plastic bag included. Put it together with the completed consent form and medical questionnaire in a return envelope
※Please post it so that it arrives at the testing center within 48 hours.
